Review of TSMIT threshold
Review of the subclass 457 arrangements is continuing. The government has announced that Mr John Azarias (who chaired the 457 Integrity Review in 2014) will undertake an evidence-based review of the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT). This will consider the appropriate base level, role of indexation, regional concessions and settings for the TSMIT before reporting back at the end of April 2016.
The TSMIT sets the salary threshold for jobs that can be filled by a subclass 457 visa holder and is currently set at $53,900. The government has stated that it will remain at this level until Mr Azarias has reported back and the findings of the review are considered.
